Bring a Tweep To Lunch – Feraro’s Pizza

Twitter Pie Eaters

Bringing a tweep to lunch may sound funny but it’s more about fun, oh, and food. Bringing a tweep is a weekly summer event, and the latest was at Feraro’s Pizza. Feraro’s is a local and family owned pizzeria, serving Jersey style pizza and sides. They’re located in the heart of the Soulard district in downtown St. Louis.

Jon, aka @ferarospizza, held a blow out tweetup the week before. He was stoked about having another Twitter gathering soon; bring a tweep to lunch was just the thing.

A small restaurant, Feraro’s is graced with a lovely shaded patio space. Trees overhang the wide sidewalk providing generous coverage for the tables. The staff made so many trips out to us it was like being inside.

Jon and Laura, his second in charge, offered up some tweetup deals.  The main special was the Old Blue Eyes 10″ pie for $5. This pizza is a traditional Jersey style, but instead of a tomato sauce, extra virgin olive oil is the base.  Pepperoni topped, it was quite good, being a crispy but not overcooked crust with a layer of real mozzarella cheese, spices, and of course, generous pepperoni.

Making a tweetup special isn’t just about the food, but Feraro’s did go above and beyond in that area.  Jon whipped us up a couple batches of pizza frite.

These delectable bite-size morsels are simple and sugary. They are rolled balls of pizza dough, deep fried, and then tossed in powdered sugar. It’s an Italian favorite.

Food wasn’t the only topic. Social Media Club’s June event and Shock City Studio’s grand opening event were the night before and centers of discussion. Commentary, critiques, and gossip were shared, and ironically enough, there was talk about the food at both events.

Jon, Feraro’s owner and manager, joined us out front throughout our stay. Jumping into the conversations, he shared about the first tweetup, how excited he was about social networking, and how much he appreciated our business. He’s going to be a St. Louis social networking celebrity by this time next month.

Pizza and dessert were great, but bring a tweep to lunch is destined to move on.  There are several requests for one to be held out in the St. Charles area, likely right across the river on the water front.

Do weigh in the comments, or drop a tweet to @execbp or @tojosan with your suggestions.

I am humbled by this generous review, but more so by the great new friends that Feraro's Jersey Style Pizza has made through Twitter. It is a pleasure to do what I do, and to put smiles on the faces of all my new "Tweeps". You guys rock! I am looking forward to more great experiences in the near future. Please feel free to DM me with any ideas for gatherings, ie social media events, or Tweetups! Thanks again, and lots of love to Todd Jordan for all the help in planning this event at Feraro's! Jon Feraro
