Need To Learn To Blog? Head Over To The Interactive Festival

This Saturday October 17th is the second annual St. Louis Interactive Festival, a free one day conference (festival?) for bloggers and social media types of all abilities and skill levels brought to you by The St. Louis Bloggers Guild. Whether you are just starting out or are a seasoned blogging veteran, there is sure to be something for you to take away from the festival. In fact, they designed it that way: there are separate tracks for beginners and advanced bloggers. There will also be time to mix and mingle with other bloggers.

The festival is free, including breakfast and lunch, and is being held at Shock City Studios. Don’t forget, though, you do need to RSVP. We have all the links and directions you need on our calendar.

Here is a rundown of the day’s schedule:

  • 9am – Keynote and Coffee – Social Media: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (Breakfast is provided)
  • 10am – Beginner Track: Build-A-Blog Live Site Build
  • 10am – Advanced Track: The Important of Usability and Visual Design
  • 11am – Beginner Track: You Have A Website, Now What?
  • 11am – Advanced Track: Applying Your New Media Skillset to the Workforce
  • 12pm – Lunch and Networking break (Lunch is provided for attendees)
  • 1pm – Beginner Track: The Basics of Using Audio and Video on Your Site
  • 1pm – Advanced Track: Let’s Talk Tech: New Technology Roundtable Discussion
  • 2pm – Beginner Track: Photography for the Hobbyist
  • 2pm – Advanced Track: Social Media for Small Business and Non-Profits
  • 3pm – Closing – Intellectual Property, Ethics and Privacy Online

Some of the speakers scheduled include: Dana Loesch, the blogger behind “Mamalogues” and the voice behind “The Dana Show” on KFTK 97.1 FM; Marianne Richmond, new media strategist and founder of The Resonanace Partnership , Mike Wilkerson, host of the podcast “Two Guys Talking”; “Mae Mason” video blogger and star of “Mutha Mae’s Word to Your Mutha”; Brad Hogenmiller of Technology Partners and Events Director for the St. Louis Social Media Club; and Melody Cissell, founder/managing editor of “Girls’ Guide to the Galaxy.“
