This is a cool thing, and exactly the type of thing I would like to be publicizing on this site. Alas, with my apologies, this time all I have for you is a recap.

New Horizons Learning Center of St. Louis, in conjunction with Businesspersons Between Jobs, offered a complimentary class in social networking to adults looking for a new job.

The purpose of the event was to show job seekers how to use social networking sites, such as LinkedIn, Twitter,
and Facebook to network with employers and find job opportunities.

“The obscure viewpoint of `Social Networking’ has started changing, but not everyone has recognized the
change,” commented Justin Freeman who teaches the class at New Horizons. “These sites give you the ability
to not only connect with old friends, family members, and colleagues, but can help you utilize the
applications and search optimization to land that hardtofind job floating around out there. It goes back to
the saying `who you know’ and simply expands your relationship bubble.”

Lisa Godoski of BBJ has witnessed the success of the class with attendees. “Many are surprised to learn that
Facebook and Twitter can actually help in the job search and that they are not just nonsensical ramblings,”
reflects Lisa. “This workshop has encouraged them to try new things and leave their comfort zones just a bit.
They are no longer intimidated by the Web and see its many uses.”

Here is a link to the entire release on New Horizons site.
