Unlike their counterparts in the No Fun League, I mean, National Football League, the National Hockey League is embracing social media. Maybe their thinking is just more current than the other major sports, or maybe they feel like, as the least popular of them, they have to embrace social media as a means to increase their popularity. Last year they held Tweetups coinciding with their playoffs, and this year they are again embracing Twitter as the new season is about to kick off.
The season starts Thursday, with our very own St. Louis Blues taking on the Detroit Red Wings in Sweden, but the first day with a full slate of games is Saturday, October 3rd. To celebrate, the NHL is having a Twitter Contest. To enter, you need to follow the NHL on Twitter, and send them a reply picking the winners of saturdays 15 games. The winner receives a trip for two to the NHL game of their choice.
The rules are very particular, so to make sure you do not run afoul of them, I would recommend heading to the NHL site to see all the details. All the linkage you need can be found there.
