St. Louis Social Media Daily Column for July 27

Time for another installment of our couple of times a week Social Media Daily Column. I have searched far and wide to bring you the freshest, most important social media news that I can—ok, I know no one believes that, we both know I post whatever falls on my lap – so if you have something you want to see here, throw it on my lap.

And I am against a deadline so  I am going to leave that there, but I realize looking back at that link, you might think it goes somewhere dirty. It does not, it’s just my email. I promise.

THE BEACON HIGHLIGHTS THE NEW DOWNTOWN COWORKING SPACE - We told you about the new downtown co-working space in the Shell Building a couple weeks ago? The St. Louis Beacon has a nice story about it as well: ‘ There’s something to be said for a traditional work routine of commuting downtown, entering a high-rise office building and chatting with coworkers before settling in for the day. That’s a new possibility for the people who will occupy a 10,000-square-foot room inside the Shell Building beginning Aug. 2. But little else will be traditional about the office environment at Saint Louis Coworking . Weekday hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday), and 9-to-5 schedules will hardly be the norm. Cell phones and laptops, not landlines and desktops, will be the office tools of choice. And most notably, the majority of people who gather at a coffee machine will be coworkers only in spirit -– they will represent a range of careers, companies and causes.’

TWITTER’S RELIABILITY ISSUES WREAK HAVOC WITH DEVELOPERS - Computerworld is out with an interesting article on the effects of Twitter’s technical instability on it’s developers: ‘The frequent and disruptive technical issues have forced these developers, many of whom generate significant revenue from their Twitter applications, to scramble to appease their angry users, while trying to protect their brands and cope with lost business.’

EVER WANTED TO BE A SPEAKER AT A CONFERENCE? - The MarketSTL internet marketing conference will be back this fall and is putting out a call for speakers…so if you think you have the chops,  go to that link and send them your proposal, (they prefer St. Louis-based speakers, too). While you are at it, go to the MarketSTL Facebook page and like them. Whether you end up speaking there or not, if you are a business trying to increase your online presence, this is a must-attend event. The Report was among the 150 or so smart people that attended the last one in April, and we learned a ton of stuff about being found online, content marketing, etc. Stay tuned and ‘like’ them on Facebook. You won’t want to miss it again.

BLOGROLL – don’t forget we have a blogroll now…email us or give a comment below to get yourself on it…(and we would love to be added to yours if you have one…hint, hint)

We need more stuff! Send me your news, tips and events
