STLToday.com Quietly Introducing Comment Moderation?

We have not heard much else about the matter from STLtoday.com since the big Kurt Greenbaum comment scandal. It is almost as if they are hoping if they don’t say anything else about it, it will go away. Perhaps that is true. Perhaps it already has.

However, it seems to me that some new rules and moderation are quietly being implemented over at STLToday.com.

Take this image of a comment that has been moderated as exhibit A:

I am not the authority on the matter, but I don’t recall seeing that before.

Also, as best I can tell, these Stltoday.com Rules of the Road are new, or at least recently modified.

RULES OF THE ROAD

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch and STLtoday.com want your participation in our blogs, forums and story comments. At the same time, we can’t have objectionable material on the site. You should also know that we don’t edit or review posts in advance, so we expect your help in policing them using the “report post” links available.

Moderators of story comments, blog comments and forums have the right to edit, delete, move or close any comments at any time. These guidelines clarify our practices and provide an explanation of what content may lead to message deletion or user bans. We’re trying to be a little informal here, but our formal Terms of Service governs.

For the actual eight guidelines, please check out STLtoday.com.
